My christmas tree adventure !!!

Well the time is near for putting up the decorations and tree etc etc....so we had NO plans for getting anything new this year.....BUT....I bought a silver metal *tree* type thing for hanging baubles on that I had seen at a friends house, she had baubles on hers that she had beaded...now theres an idea I thought...but no time to make my own so I went to The Range to get some baubles to hang on it and even joked that maybe we could use that as our tree this year !!!

Anyhow in The Range they had this GORGEOUS, and I mean GORGEOUS tree...it was 6@ black and pre-lit with LED lights....OMG I fell in love with it right there and then...hmmm....now to prepare Tony to think that it was his idea to get a new tree...would take come careful planning......

So I am sat there and just dropped into conversation about when we would put up the tree and Tony says....shall we get a new one, as the old fibreoptic one was looking a bit tired last year.....well ME I dont need asking twice but not wanting to seem too keen...I ummmed and ahhhhed a bit and then said well I did see this GORGEOUS one at The Range but it was expensive.....he said how much and I said guess ???? and blow me he guessed the right amount so I made a fuss of how clever he was with that type of guessing thing LOL....and the upshot was we went to The Range on Friday evening just gone....and he liked it very very much but the lights were static not twinkling as we have always previously had....so I said lets take a look in a few other places incase there is something better/cheaper or one that twinkles....so off we go and this was 7PM Friday night.....anyway we found another 6' black tree that was cheaper and twinkled lights took it homw put it up and you could see why it was cheaper....and Tony said you dont like it do you.....:( no I dont so he said he would take it back and refund and go get the one from The Range.....he was there at 08.45 and to cut another long story short it had gone :((((

I couldnt believe it....so I found numbers for othe shops and rang around...very popular madam so no, no no was the answer.....apart from Southampton and they would only reserve that day....and I was on a long day working so couldnt go and Tony wouldnt :(

So I got him to ring back and explain about me working and where it was playing on the sympathy vote anyway they said they would hold and Tony said I would pick up before 1pm Sunday....so we put the postcode in the sat nav and off I went 9.30 am Sunday am to southampton to get this tree.......

Well I got there in good time 5 mins after the shop opened and they had the ticket with my name on......they sent someone to get it and I paid for it.....well 15 mins !!! later the guy came back and said ummm slight problem the tree is in the reserve cupboard BUT the key is missing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldnt believe it I said there must be a duplicate....no none to be found. The manager that had the key was not in until 12 midday.....bummer I didnt want to hang round that long.....I asked if they could ring him and get hin to come in as I had travelled from Poole.....they rang him but NO he wouldnt come in and he said that there WAS another spare key...so off they went looking for this key.....20 mins later they came back NO key so I said PLEASE ring the manager again and explain and beg him to come in LOL.....anyhow again he said NO......so I asked if I could have the display model at a discount...they said if they did that there was no box and it would be sold as seen and not returnable.....and he said that they cant reduce an item when there is still one in stock.....so not really an option......but I said can you ask anyway as I had come up from Poole etc etc etc......so off he went to ask the deputy manager and he asked why I wanted a discount and he explained about the cupboard and the key and the deputy manager said and I quote " you should have asked me first or put out a call as I have the other key "....well I could have stamped my feet there and then....I had been there for over an hour while they farted about trying to sort it....I mean to say...wouldnt you have thought they would have checked with the deputy manager !!!!!!!!!

So I got my tree.....and it is GORGEOUS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT..........I will take a pic tomorrow and show you all so you can share with me......when I got it home Tony went to assemble it and it was in 3 sections all pre-lit....he put the middle section in the bottom and then tried to put the bottom into the middle and it wouldnt work and it took a while to figure out why.....then when I realised what he had done we sorted it...plugged in the one plug and the lights didnt work....well I got up and kicked the box...then Tony kicked the box...I could have cried......so then he tried the connection in the other way and VOILA....we had light.....what a palava.....

Anyhow I then thought while up here I will go to hedge end...and I got my dressing gown that I had been wanting and a cardigan from M&S and a coat from Sainsburys that I had been after here in Poole but to no avail...... and my friend Tracey lives 10 mins from hedge end so I thought I could personally deliver her card......sadly she wasnt it :(.... she was in Hamworthy where I live visiting friends LOL........

I text her on my return and my text said " I was in The Range shaking up a tree "...that conjured up allsorts of images in her head and in mine when she text me back what I had sent...LOL>.. predictive text without wearing glasses is such fun...it should have been *picking* up a tree.....

So all in all it turned out ok.....but what a performance...at least this tree will last
us forever......( I HOPE )
Sorry for so long a post......
Bye for now
Hugs
Janette who loves her new tree....
