Bella cards

I needed to make some Bella cards today for a swap that I am involved in.

I wanted to use my nestability dies to, so I dusted them off and opened up the packages...YES they have been sat there on my shelf for about 3 months unopened ( horror )
I chose the die to fit around my bella and went from there.I cut some off the right side of the card after I had cuttlebugged it with swiss dots.
The felt flowers were from SU and just happened to be the colour I was working with....Rose red and pretty in pink...I used the SU markers to colour her in.
The word saying is from a USA company DOTS now I think it is CTMH and is years old.....

Sunny Sunday

Hi All,

It was my birthday on Friday 20th June, I was lucky enough to have received some lovely cards.

Several from the Dorset Stampers club I belong to.
Gorgeous ones from the addicted Ladies that I stamp with on a Thursday
More from some internet card groups that I belong to.

I will be uploading them when I take them down on Tuesday.

It was weird not getting a card signed by my mum, but I guess that will always be hard no matter how much time passes eh....
Still life goes on and I guess you pretty much just have to deal with it.....

I have made a few cards this past week which I will show next week too.

Then I hope to get back into the swing of things

Time goes by....

Wow, where has the time gone since my last blog entry....answer....I dont know......mind in a whirl.....
The funeral went by as good as they do.....you know....great to see all the family but not in those circumstances :(

I have good days and bad days.....infact good mornings then bad afternoons etc......I know things WILL get better but I also know that it will take time and I am not rushing things at all.....

I have great friends that help, and I am trying to get back into things that I enjoyed as I know mum wouldnt have wanted me to give up things that I loved ...she loved receiving my cards...

I have bought myself a new book and I have promised myself that I will try to read some of it each day as I am able.....

I need to sort my room out because things have been dumped there from the last 8 weeks whilst I was going back and fore to wales...so it needs a tidy before I can create again.....

On a more positive note I had an email from an old friend that I used to swap with years ago in the stamping community....we both have birthdays this month so we were *twinned* for ages and then carried on....then somehow we lost touch but she emailed me again.....yippee.....she is called NORMA and she has a blog where she creates original and unique pieces of altered art....her name is in my blog list so go on click and see what she has been up to.......

Sad News

My lovely dear sweet mum passed away last night, after 6 nightmare weeks of being in hospital.
She can finally rest easy.
We were all with her.

A Mother is a special friend whose love is always there. Who always takes an interest in each hope and dream we share. A Mother is a special friend whose hope is always near, Who offers understanding, care and comfort, year by year... And, Mum, that is why you're cherished more with every day, For you will always be a special friend in every way.

Rest In Peace

With much love,

Long time no blog !!

Hello Everyone,

I havent been a good blogger of late....nearly a month I hear you cry !!

My mum has been VERY poorly

both mentally and physically so I have been to and from Wales more times than I care to mention in the last month BUT thankfully

I think she may have turned the corner so I have come back for a while.

I had some sad news on my return that required me to make a sympathy card.......I have a set on order from SU called Close as a Memory which I would have loved to use but it isnt here yet.

SO I used the stampendous Agapanthus stamp instead and did a thinking of you instead....what do you think ?? will it be ok ?

I used black and 2 shades of grey Bazzill CS and SU basic grey ink.

Cuttlebug card

This is a cuttlebug card I made for a swap on a yahoo group I belong to....

It was inspired by a card that my good friend Jenny made that can be seen here also a card that I rec from my friend Sharon for my birthday a few years back.

For the scallop circle punch I brayered Sage shadow ink onto whisper white to give a more subtle colour that blended with the original colour.

I used the SU marker in sage shadow to go down the white SU ribbon...thanks Jenny for showing us that...mind you my line was not as straight as jenny's !!

Card:- SU Sage shadow and whisper white

Ink:- SU sage shadow, sage shadow marker

Punches:- 2 1/2" scallop punch, SU scallop, 1 3/8" circle and 1 1/4" circle

Stamps:- SU Bitty blossoms,Hero Arts Friend

Acc:- Cuttlebug folder,SU white ribbon, green crystal

Cuttlebug and Brayer

I have wanted to try this out for a while and as it was raining just now I thought I would give it a go !!

You just ink up your brayer, I used SU Sage Shadow ink and once the brayer is loaded, open up your cuttlebug embossing folder. You can brayer the ink onto either side of the folder depending on the look you want.

Click on the picture to see closer, the left hand piece was done by brayering the ink onto the raised dot side of the folder. The right hand piece was done by brayering the ink onto depressed dot side of the folder.Oooooh I can see allsorts of possibilities using this technique.......and I didnt have to clean the folder as squashing it through my big shot fair cleaned all the ink off !!!! BONUS........

Now to make a card using these pieces....

Cut up card !!

I saw a card like this on a blog hopping spree......sorry cannot remember where....
I used a square card and tore down the right hand side about 1 1/2" in from that side...
I then decided how much of a gap I wanted and then trimmed that amount off the right hand straight edge.
I attached the two pieces using the word window punch from SU cut out of black CS and used pink brads to attach.
I used a hero arts word stamp delight vertically on the cut off piece.
The shadow oblong stamp and the flower are from the SU Oh so lovely set.
I used the SU corner rounder with the guide off to make the scallop border and then I punched holes in each of the scallops.

Easter Treat gift bag

I wanted to make one of these for ages, was going to do them for valentines but made the lollies instead.
My sons girlfriend doesnt eat choc but I wanted to get her something and she likes skittles so I thought I would make the treat baggie filled with skittles.
Hope she likes it.....

Supplies required

Base cardstock in chosen colour, I used whisper white from SU.
Punches:- Marvy scallop oval, SU 1/4" and corner rounder.
Stamps:- Happy easter word and egg
Pumpkin Pie ribbon and inkpad
Skittles or chosen sweet/treat/choc
clear plastic baggie.

Cut the cardstock

Cut your cardstock 8 1/2 cms x 28cms

Score the cardstock

I scored the cardstock at 11cms then 13cms then 24cms.

Stamp all over

I stamped all over using pumpkin pie ink and a happy easter word stamp and an easter egg stamp.
I stamped the inside too as because the bag is clear you can see inside.

Make a scalloped oval cut out

I used the Marvy giga ( purple ) scalloped oval punch.
I punched one out of scrap paper to get the position I wanted by marking on the inside.

Make a scallop border

Make a scallop border using the corner rounder with the guard taken off.

Punch holes on top layer

Punch 2 holes in the top fold over portion. I measured on the back to get them central.

Sorry not a good picture but if you click on the pic you can see it clearer.

Punch holes for the ribbon

Punch 2 holes using the 1/4 circle punch just above the scalloped oval cut out.

I measured on the inside to get them centered as I wanted them.

Fill the bags

Fill the bag with chosen sweets/treats/chocs amd staple the top of the bag to the back of the card.

Easter Treat bags finished

These are the finished treat bags.
One each for Simon and Taryna.
I hope they like them

When Sid came to play !!

Sid came for a trial run last Friday for a few hours to play with Leo.....he was SO funny he would NOT go out the dog door especially if we were watching !!
He did go out once and in once when I wasnt looking....LOL.....

He then proceeded to take Leo's toys one by one into his basket, the look on Leo's face was a picture, he kept looking at me as if to say WHY is he doing this ?? Leo then took them all out one by one and put them back in his play box next to his basket.
I think we will have fun when he comes to stay for longer...what do you think ??

Easter cards

This is an easter card I made for a swap on a Yahoo group that I belong to.
I used Certainly Celery and So Saffron CS from SU.
The stamps are from A Good Egg stamp set that I borrowed from Sharon ( thanks )
I cuttlebugged the white CS using the bubbles folder.
The ribbon was from a 99p roll from The Range !!
I also used DP from SU for the bottom part of the egg.
I want to try glittering the egg if I could only find my glitter and glue LOL....been trying to sort craft room out, which with my fingers strapped is not so easy :)
Tony did me another desk type thing to bridge a gap so that I could have my big shot out and accessible all the time only trouble is it leaves a gap at the back as we were using wood we already had LOL....too funny now that desk is always tidy as everything falls downt he hole at the back LOL.....back to the drawing board.

Leo *guarding* the beef yesterday !!

This was how I found leo yesterday, I had just cooked the beef joint and Tony had carved it and leo was watching it intently.
We think he was *willing* it to jump off and land in his belly LOL
He is SO funny, if there is meat or fish in the fridge and the door is open he will sit and *guard* it just by staring at it....too funny
Apart from the christmas when he was only 4 months old and he STOLE a whole turky drumstick from the fridge, ran round and round the front room whilst we tried to catch him, then he tried to escape through the dog door you can see behind him and he got stuck but he wasnt letting go of that drumstick for no-one....growling and such like, it was just so funny to see....
He gives us SO much pleasure and is so loveable, loves to give and receive cuddles :)

Tony bought Leo a new coat and just as well as he certainly needed it today.
It was raining very heavily....and with this coat on I didnt have much drying off to do when we got home.
It has a reflective strip at the bottom end as you can see so great for when its dark.

On the pearlescant card inside the acetate is some printed vellum from craftwork cards.
